Student Learning Outcomes

At the end of this lab, a successful learner should be able to…

  1. Define a “model” and describe some of the ways disease models can help us gain insight
  2. Define and discriminate between state variables and parameters
  3. Explain how maximum likelihood approaches can be used to fit disease models
  4. Use functions from the bbmle package to fit epidemic models to real data, and then analyze resultant parameter estimates.
